Purim (23-24 March)
Purim is a Jewish holiday that commemorates the saving of the Jewish people from Haman, who was planning to kill all the Jews. This story is recorded in the biblical Book of Esther. Purim is celebrated on the 14th of the Hebrew month of Adar, which typically falls in February or March. The holiday is marked by public readings of the Book of Esther, giving mutual gifts of food and drink, giving charity to the poor, and a celebratory feast. It's also characterized by masquerade and costumes, symbolizing the hidden aspects of the Purim story, where Esther initially conceals her Jewish identity.
Celebrate Purim online with GLAM institutions through virtual readings, social media costume contests, digital Purim plays, online exhibits, interactive workshops, engaging trivia, and charity drives, bringing the holiday's spirit to a broad audience.
